Winning the Technology for Good Award

Developer Advocacy | Tech4Good | Awards

I'm proud to have won the Technology for Good Award at the Future Stars of Tech Awards 2019!

As much as I love building, learning and creating new technologies for my own benefit, I believe we must strive to apply and share our knowledge to the people & causes that need it most. I have tried to focus my work on projects which have a humanitarian, health or conservation challenge which needs to be solved.

This includes projects such as EPIONE, a disaster emergency services management tool which uses AI and analytics to group patients together in a disaster and send specialised staff to a single area (project page to come!).

One of my favourite projects is the Tap-a-Boat game, where we cleverly wrapped satellite imaging and IoT data into a mobile game to help coast guards identify illegal fishing boats in Marine PRotected Areas!

Future Leaders of Tech Award

Also this year, I was nominated in the "Young Leader of the Year" category for the 2019 Tech Leaders Award.

This was for my recent work in leading various client projects from conception, through design to production. My 2019 has had a focus on advocating for students to get into STEM subjects and to support young professionals in the start of their career. These included activities such as being a mentor for university STEM students, sharing my story at Women in Technology events and organising UKI wide education sessions at the IBM UK Labs to support our graduates.
